Arun Kaul

Arun Kaul (B.Tech. '79 Aero. Engg.) tried to graduate from IITB in '76 and eventually managed in '79, thanks to the dreaded Organic Chemistry course that he managed to clear. He could not convince the Institute that he need not know Organic Chemistry in order to make airplanes, that he supposedly came to learn in the Aero Department. Arun is remembered more for riding a horse to the lectures and parking it in a cycle shed. Many of his exploits are chronicled in the Madhouse book.

Arun Kaul H4, C76 Aero is famous for:

Riding to classes on horseback and “parking” the horse in the cycle shed.
Creating and singing brilliant parodies on the fly. Remember his “Aaloo bhari hai…” Sung to the tune of “Aansoo bhari hai…”?
Generating a massive controversy in IITB about the need to have a course on organic chemistry for wannabe aircraft designers. He ducked organic chemistry endlessly to highlight this point.
